Fall is here...

OK, I live in Southern California, so saying it feels "fallish' here would be an outright lie - but I feel the spirit of fall today.  I was making my morning run through the drive-thru at Starbucks this am and right there beside the menu board was a big sign telling me that pumpkin spice was available.  I long for that day every year.  I grew up in Vermont and it just reminds me of home somehow.  So, this morning I had a Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte with only 2 pumps of syrup (told her I was trying to do things lighter and that's what she suggested) - it was heavenly.

A flower from nothing...

As I was backing out of the driveway this morning, I looked over at my flower bed, my totally ignored and unattended to flower bed, and there was a beautiful purple & yellow flower that had bloomed from a bunch of bulbs that I had planted years ago.  I thought they were all dead and gone...but there was the one bloom, like a bright star shining through a dark sky...like hope.  I think I will spend some time on the flower bed this weekend while hubby is out of town.  If that beautiful flower can come out of nothing, than who knows what could be with a little attention.
