Over the course of our lives, we welcome many new friends into our lives, and unfortunately, we also say goodbye to some as well. This weekend we went to a party to say goodbye to a family that has been a part of our lives for about 5 years now. Their son is friends with our son, we are friends with the parents and my daughter just adores their daughter, even though she is quite a few years older. The family is one we don't see often, but we camp with them several times a year, and see each other at parties, etc...
I grew up moving a lot from the time I was in Junior high on. And even though I am very used to all that turmoil, I didn't want it for my children. I don't want them to have to say goodbye to good people. I don't want them to become afraid to let new people into their lives because they are just going to expect them to leave anyway. I know this is unrealistic, and that life goes on, even when good friends move away.
We're sorry to see you go...you know who you are. Hopefully we will come to Pennsylvania to visit you soon, and you will come back home here for visits as well. You will be missed, but not forgotten.
All the best~
Christine
